Why I'm a part of Ubunye: Southern Africa has always held the most special place in my heart after I was lucky enough to grow up in Zimbabwe and learn life lessons in a country of immense natural beauty alongside some of the most determined, resourceful and unfailingly optimistic people I’ve ever come across. As the saying goes, ‘Talent is universal, opportunity is not’. This is unfortunately the reality for so many of the brilliantly talented and ambitious young people in Southern Africa. Seeing instances of this first hand as I grew up was something I could never reconcile, especially knowing that the lack of opportunity was in many ways purely a result of the circumstances one is born in to.

I am proud to be a part of Ubunye because it reminds us of the potential and possibility that a single human life holds. It is a chance for us to change the trajectory of young people’s lives through education. By opening up opportunity and inspiring them to pursue big dreams I have no doubt that the impact these amazing young people will have on the world around them and on generations to follow will be nothing less than spectacular.
